How Not To Become Lunch: 11 - Don’t Be a Dummy

*gurgle*

Sissy opened her eyes and blinked a few times. Lying curled up on a comfy bed, she looked out into an empty room, quiet and peaceful except for-

*guuuurgle*

She looked down at herself, at the big bulging belly that she had been cradling all night long, and smiled with pride and satisfaction. She felt her stomach working, still churning and kneading even after all these hours, working to digest her special meal. Her smile only grew.

As she patted her furry gut, she couldn’t help but remind herself just how well she had done; a sneaky little pred easily claiming her unsuspecting prey, even under the nose of her own big sister. Come to think of it, where was Fiona? Her sleeping bag lay empty on the floor. Had she not noticed Sissy lying in Jack’s old bed?

She is pretty tired in the mornings, Sissy thought to herself. Maybe she was so sleepy she just went straight to the bathroom without seeing me? …Or, maybe she did see me and even though she was a little mad she was so proud of me that she let me keep sleeping!

Well that settled it, she just had to find Fiona and get the praise she so clearly deserved. With a definite bit of effort, the little pup rolled her belly onto her lap and sat upright. That’s when she really felt it for the first time.

*glork*

“Ugh…”

She put her hands lightly against her bulge.

That kinda hurt…

She looked down at herself for another moment but then shrugged it off. Pushing with her arms, she slid herself forward until she slipped off the edge of the mattress. She landed with a light thud, nearly falling forward as her belly jiggled, bouncing up and down.

*groooooan*

The pup grimaced and clenched up. That really had hurt a bit. She felt something in her stomach shifting, accompanied by a quiet rumbling, and then suddenly she felt a pressure in her throat and-

*UUUUURRRP*!

The little girl threw a hand over her snout, like she had seen her mom do, but couldn’t help giggling afterwards.

I guess I’m just gassy, Jack was a pretty big meal.

So with slow, heavy steps, Sissy plodded along, her belly lightly bouncing as she went. Making her way out of Jack’s old room, she listened and sniffed. She couldn’t detect anyone else up on the top floor, but she could hear movement coming from below, along with the alluring smell of something sweet. She continued down the hall, taking extra care once she got to the steps, and started to imagine what Fiona’s reaction might be.

Oh Sissy, you did such a good job! You’re a real predator now just like me! I always knew you would get him!”

And what would their mom say?

I’m so proud of you! You caught your first human! You’re the best werewolf pup in the world!”

But what about his mother?

She might not be as happy... She is just a human, not a predator, so she probably won’t really get it. Oh well. If she gets too angry, Fiona can just have her for breakfast.

*gurgle*

Sissy paused at the bottom of the stairs, wincing as she felt another pang from her belly. But she tried to ignore it and kept on going, following her nose toward the dining room and the kitchen beyond. Along with the enticing smell of food, she noticed her sister’s scent growing stronger, telling her she was on the right track.

Sissy rounded the corner a few seconds later and caught sight of Fiona sitting alone at the dining table, staring idly into the distance.

“Sis, look! I did it! I ate Jack!” the pup announced with a huge grin.

Fiona looked over and laid eyes on the plump pup, her expression remained blank for a moment as she stared. Did she not know how to react? Could she just not believe her eyes? Her hand rose up to cover her mouth and her eyes went wide.

“Sissy… No. How?” Fiona asked. She definitely wasn’t as ecstatic as the pup had hoped, but with her hand over her face it was hard to make out exactly how she was taking it. Was she really upset? Maybe speechlessly impressed? Or just very surprised?

“I snuck up on him last night while he was asleep. I was so quiet that I didn’t even wake him up,” the little werewolf bragged.

Fiona stood up and walked slowly toward her sister, her eyes fixed on the bulging belly. Unlike when Sissy had managed to swallow Jack the first time, her taut, stretchy skin wasn’t wriggling and writhing. Nothing was struggling inside. It was deathly still. She stared at it, not speaking another word.

She wasn’t giving Sissy all her hard-earned praise yet, maybe she just didn’t know how good a job she had done?

“I pretended to be asleep so no one would notice. Then when everyone else was asleep, I crept up on his bed real slow- just like you taught me. I was so quiet that I didn’t even wake you up. He never saw me coming, just went straight down into my tummy. Pretty good right?”

The pup looked up with an expectant smile. Fiona squeezed her eyes shut and turned away quickly, arms wrapped around her face and chest. She shuddered a few times. …Was she… sobbing?

“…Fiona…?” Sissy asked, her smile finally starting to fade.

There was a long, heavy silence…

“Alright! Who wants flapjacks?!”

Sissy turned to the entrance of the kitchen. Her mouth fell open. There was Jack, holding a plate of pancakes. A faint sound caught her ears and brought her attention back to her sister who, unable to contain herself anymore, finally burst out laughing, her hands falling away to reveal the smile she had been hiding.

“What’s so funny, Fi?” Jack asked, rarely having seen his friend laugh so hard. Fiona reeled herself in enough to talk again.

“Sissy was just telling me all about how she ate you last night,” she answered, still chuckling. Jack looked over at the confused, now somewhat upset looking pup, and noticed her bulging belly.

“Wait, you mean she never noticed?”

“Nope!” came the reply, followed by another bout of laughter.

Jack walked over and set the plate down on the table, smirking a bit himself.

“But… but…” Sissy stammered, looking back and forth between her belly and the clearly undigested boy in front of her.

“Aw, man. My mom’s never getting that back now,” he said, slightly guilty but mostly relieved, seeing as it wasn’t him in there.

“But… you were in your bed…” Sissy muttered sadly.

“No, I was sleeping in the spare room,” Jack corrected, “but we left a decoy.”

“You ate one of the mannequins,” Fiona giggled.

“Huh?”

“One of the models from my mom’s room. With the clothes,” Jack explained. “We put it there as a joke, I never thought you’d actually swallow the whole thing without realizing.”

“You… But I was so sneaky!” Sissy protested. Fiona burst out laughing again.

“Actually… you were kinda obvious,” Jack admitted.

“‘Kinda’!?” Fiona jeered.

“Come on, Fi. Be nice,” Jack said sympathetically.

“Be nice? She tried to eat you- again! She deserves it. And for the record, you did wake me up last night, and I got to watch the whole thing right up until you passed out in his bed. I wish I had a camera!”

“You tricked me!” Sissy grumbled, crossing her arms above her bulge. Still chuckling, Fiona began to turn back toward her breakfast when an unexpected series of sounds caught her and Jack off guard. A loud gurgle, followed by a painful, canine yelp.

Fiona looked back to her sister. The pup stood clenched up, knees and arms crossed, tail curled around her leg.

“Sissy?” she asked. The older werewolf was still smiling, but her eyes showed a bit of concern now.

“…My tummy…” the girl mumbled.

“Do you think the mannequin is giving her trouble?” Jack asked, glancing at Fiona.

“Probably. I didn’t expect her to keep it down this long,” she answered. “Preds can handle a lot: clothes, jewelry, shoes, but if you eat too much stuff that isn’t food you can get one heck of a stomachache.” Her tone suggested she spoke from experience. Crouching down in front of her little sister, she put a few fingers against the rounded belly and pushed gently.

*GLORP*

Sissy winced, flinching again. Fiona frowned.

“Ow…” the pup wined.

Fiona stood up and caught Jack’s concerned glance.

“Will she be alright?” he asked. Fiona seemed to think back for a moment, then nodded somewhat uncomfortably, a regretful frown now clear on her face.

“Yeah, she’ll be fine. She just needs a little help. The back door is around that way, right?”

Jack nodded, but gave a questioning look. Fiona just looked back down at her little sister.

“Come on sis, I know how to make you feel better.”

Jack watched as Fiona took the girl’s hand and led her out of the dining room. He almost asked what exactly his friend had meant, but something told him he probably didn’t want to know.

A moment later he heard his mom approach. The woman walked in from the kitchen with a welcoming smile and a second plate of flapjacks, but her enthusiasm waned when she found Jack alone.

“I thought I heard laughing, where did Fiona go?”

“Sissy woke up with a stomachache, so she went to help.”

“Oh dear, poor thing. I hope she feels bet-”

*BULEEECH*!

A fairly loud retching sound struck their ears, followed by a rather wet series of clatters. Mrs. Eten put her plate down next to the other and brought a hand up to her mouth to complete her concerned expression.

“Oh my…” she murmured.

A few moments later they heard the back door open, and a moment after that the two werewolf siblings reentered the dining room. Fiona looked down at her sister with a supportive, sympathetic gaze. Sissy’s expression vaguely brought to mind a recently deflated balloon and her belly was now noticeably flat.

“Are you okay sweetie?” Mrs. Eten asked.

A low “Uhhhhh,” was the only reply she got.

“Well don’t worry, I have just the thing to cheer you up. Flapjacks! Your favorite! You sit down and I’ll go get more.” The woman walked off with a smile back toward the kitchen.

“If your mom wants what’s left of that mannequin, she can find it in the back yard,” Fiona informed quietly.

Jack grimaced at the thought.

“So how do you like them?” Mrs. Eten asked. Fiona slipped another bite off her fork as she pulled it from her muzzle.

“It’s a nice change from meat,” she replied happily with a tiny gulp. Not that she would take it over a nice, wriggling prey, but she wasn’t about to bring up that part.

“And what about you, dearie?”

Eyes turned to Sissy- sitting with a stern pout, grabbing whole pancakes one at a time with her claws and stuffing them into her mouth. She didn’t say a word, but the way she was scarfing them down at least said something.

“So Jack, it’s your first weekend back in town. What are you gonna do?” Fiona asked.

“Um… I don’t know. I usually spent weekends helping my aunt organize her ingredients.”

Every weekend?”

“She has a lot of ingredients, and she always kept getting more. I’m pretty sure she bought them just to keep me busy.”

“Now Jack,” his mother scolded.

“Well, you don’t have to do that now, so…” Fiona asked leadingly.

“…Um, read comics?”

“Jack!”

“What?! They’re fun! I know not to believe them anymore but I can still enjoy them.”

Sure. But as fun as that sounds, why don’t we go out and do something?”

“Go out?” Mrs. Eten asked nervously.

“I usually stay inside,” Jack explained, sharing a bit of his mother’s concern. “You know, for my own good.”

“Yeah, but now you have me. You can finally go have fun like a normal kid. Wait- that’s it! The mall! We should go to the mall.”

“The mall?” he replied with a mix of wonder and trepidation.

“Are you sure it’s safe?” Mrs. Eten asked with a worried eye toward the eager werewolf.

“It is with me around. You don’t have to worry about a thing! What do you say Jack? The mall?

“I guess it could be fun,” he replied with a growing smirk. He hadn’t been somewhere that public in a long time, and the thought of that alone filled him with a certain excitement. “But wait- what about Sissy?”

“We’ll just drop her at home,” Fiona said dismissively.

“No!” Sissy exclaimed. It was the first word she had spoke all meal. “You can’t just leave me home alone while you go hang out with Jack again!”

“You won’t be alone, mom will be there.”

“Yeah but you won’t! And mom said to let me hang out with you guys!”

“Awww, isn’t that sweet,” Mrs. Eten crooned.

What is it with mothers not being able to see through her act? Fiona thought. If only Jack’s mom knew the real reason why she didn’t want her little sister tagging along.

“Fine, we’ll all go together,” Fiona conceded- if only to avoid suspicion.

Sissy shoved another flapjack into her muzzle, this time more with excitement than upset. She was going out to the mall with her sister… and maybe she would get another shot at her lunch after all.
